Mekong is a river in mainland China and Indochina. 10.-It is the world's longest river long and 7.-Asia. Its length is estimated at 4909 km (3050 mi) and drains an area of 795,000 km2 (307,000 square miles), releasing 475 km3 (114 cu MI) of water per year.Since the Tibetan plateau, this river runs through China's Yunnan province, Burma, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam established the Mekong River Commission in 1995 to assist management and the coordinated use of resources of the Mekong. In 1996, China and Burma has become a "dialogue partner" is the MRC and the six countries now jointly co-operation.
Seasonal variations in the flow and the presence of rapids and waterfalls of the river navigation are very difficult.
